Conference Presentation with my iPad

This weekend I traveled to Las Vegas to present a paper at a

conference . I decided that I would use my iPad for the presentation and my iPhone as a remote. It worked very well and I was able to move smoothly through my presentation without any problems. I used the Keynote software on my iPad, the Apple connector for the projector’s cord, and the Keynote remote on my iPhone. The room had Wi-Fi so I could connect my iPhone remote to my iPad presentation.

When I was done presenting, the first thing people asked me was how did I use the iPhone as a remote for my presentation.

Using my iPad for presentations also gave me a greater control on how the presentation looked on the screen. In the past I used to bring a USB stick and put my PowerPoint presentation on the computer that was used by all presenters. Sometimes what I saw on my computer when I was preparing my presentation was completely different from what was projected on the screen. That caused me a lot of frustration.

This time I did not care whether the laptop used for other presenters was a Mac or a PC and the setup took me a couple of seconds.

Please feel free to comment or ask questions.

I am a teacher and I like to use and read about the latest technologies. I love to use my iPad and other Apple products.

  1. I appreciate your love of Apple products! I honestly believe that our education system needs to grow and adapt to make use of newer technologies. Using products that students can enjoy increases participation and retains attention from the students. However I feel many professors are not willing to adapt and this is really takes a toll on how students engage with their classroom. Keep up the work and promote technology in the class room!

  2. Prof. Florental uses the latest technology to teach. She is one of the best professor I ever had.
